Great Falls, VA February 8, 2011After three wonderful seasons running in Spec Miata in the Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Series, Kopp Motorsports has decided it is time to change things up a bit. We have decided to move to a SCCA Pro-Series, but are not straying that far from our Mazda Roots. We will be running the Playboy MX-5 Cup for the 2011 season.
It was a long and hard decision, but we believe that this series is the right place for us. We spent the winter months making the difficult decision to leave MARRS and acquiring a MX-5 car.
The past two months have been spent tearing down the car and rebuilding it, turning it into a Kopp Motorsports car. There is still a lot of work to be done on the car before the first race at Homestead Miami Speedway on March 2nd, but we are on schedule. We will be testing the new MX-5 car at Virginia Motorsports Raceway February 18-20 and will be assisting our technical partners, Brimtek Motorsports, with the testing of their new World Challenge car. If you plan to attend this NASA event at VIR, please stop by our pits.
We are looking forward to our first "Pro" experience in Miami, eager to meet the other teams and hoping to enjoy at least a bit of the Grand Am action taking place the same weekend. We hope our fans will continue to support us as we move into the new series.
Would it cost big transporting these precious cars to the race venue? Is it a special transport only for Motorsport?
ReplyDeleteGreat pics and could come in handy later. What color is that you have used on your car? I'm going to go Yellow but more than likely the Holden Monaro Devil Yellow. I am thinking Black bumpers and trims but have the Square headlight, which I reckon looks meaner with the flares.
